How much did you pay for the car? I'm thinking of selling mine for a GT.

Get a Cold Air intake, a tuner, and dual exhaust for starters.

welcome to the forums foo,

I just got a 05 mustang v6 in feb. The 6 in this car can pull alot harder than the engine in my 04 lancer ralliart, but after the gearing and drivetrain losses they are very close stock for stock in accelleration. AFter getting a tuner, CAI, and exaust, the mustang blows the lancer away.

You'll need a tuner for most cold air intakes. Bamachips and brenspeed are both good choices for fair priced CAI/Tune combos and service. I'll be going to Bama myself when i get my tune. Don't get a CAI that doesn't require a tune unless you get a good deal on it. I love my K&N CAI but i wouldn't have paid full price for it.

Get a CAI/tuner and exhaust. Don't buy a cai that doesn't require a tune, it could set off the check engine light. vmptuning.com has a very nice cai/tuner package for $449.00 and a GT takeoff muffler is pretty cheap too. The car runs and sounds so much better with these mods. Gears & T-lok you can get later.

but say when i actually do buy my tuner and CAI, would it be in my best interest to take it into a shop to have everything properly installed?

Only if you can't turn a wrench would you take it to a shop. The CAI install is easy.
The tune is even easier: plug in under the dash and push a few buttons.
