I've been looking at some "gently used" 2006-2009 V6 Mustangs for sale online. One thing I've noticed when checking out CarFax reports is that several of them have had valve cover gaskets replaced. Each vehicle has under 50,000 miles and I'm wondering if this is a common problem, or if previous owners just beat the crap out of the car. Seems a little strange to have oil leak problems with such low miles, but I could be wrong.

Is this a big repair issue and something I need to be concerned about?

First I've heard of any problems. And I have >100,000 miles on my car with no valve cover problems.

I've worked for ford for about 6 years now and only done one set of valve cover gaskets on a 4.0L SOHC. it was on an older explorer with 250000+miles

That's a ton of miles! These 4.0L engines seem pretty reliable...
