Default Tune

I have a Bama tune on my 4.0. My stang was at the dealership getting some body work done.

Is there a way I can make sure they did not delete the tune?

Thanks.

Default tune

If you tuned your mustang with a handheld programmer, usually they prefer you put it back stock before you take it to the dealership because once you try to use it, it will be locked out, but the way to check is to look for the specific changes that you made like rev limiter and top speed to make sure if its still there hope this helps

If they're only doing body work I don't think they should even go under your hood or be messing with the computer. And if they do reflash you somehow (say by unplugging your battery), I would hope they would tell you. But if they do do it, wouldn't the process to reverse it be as easy as just plugging your tuner in and re-uploading the tune?

You can check by simply connecting your tuner. If the PCM recognizes it, you're good to go. To be sure, you can always try to reload your tune. If it lets you, then yeah, it's fine. Dealerships have been known to f*ck with the PCM and change the strategy code. I'd be locked up after strangling them.

I leave my CAI & tune in-place and simply tell the dealer (AND have him specify it on the workorder) to NOT attempt to reflash the PCM. I've never had an issue. They'll only intimidate those customers that they think they can get away with doing so.

Thanks for the responses.

Unfortunately my car was towed to the dealership ofter I slide off of the road and struck a curb. So I didn't have time to change it back to stock. I also never thought about it till last night after I picked it up.

I will go and plug the tuner in and see what happens.

Unless you asked them to do any work other than repair the curb damage, I truly doubt they even touched the PCM or even give a darn about the CAI & tune. Sorry to hear you had to have it towed.

Once you tune the car, if the battery is unhooked, won't it just recognize the tune again? Same as if the battery was unhooked with the factory tune?

The reason I ask, is I usually unhook the battery during the winter while mine is in storage. Will I need to put the factory tune back on it before unhooking it for the winter?

No, you don't need to reload the tune. Whatever tune you have in-place stays in non-volatile memory.
