Default Rev stopper

I am not quite sure what to call it, but when I would sit there in nutrual and rev my engine to test my cool air intake it stops at about 4000 RPMS. Why is that?? Is there a way to get rid of it????

Factory rev limiter 4000 in neutral or park.
I adjusted my bama rev limiter to 4000 neutral/park as well.

Its not a good idea to high rev any engine without a load on it. But it can be turned off with a tuner. The in gear rev limit is set just about 6000 or 6100 rpm. That's so you don't over rev the engine if you miss a shift or shift to late with an automatic. Also adjusted or turned off with a tuner. You should get a tuner and a GT takeoff muffler to get the maximum benefit of the cai. You will love the difference!

In his first post he said he didn't know what it was called. So, he described it the best he could. He got the point across, didn't he? And learned something.
