Just curious Dave, how are you liking the 4.10's - I've been real happy with the 3.73's I put on my V6, but just wanted to hear from a V6 guy that goes 4.10!!!

Man, I'll tell you, these gears are awesome. Now when I hit the gas, no matter what speed or gear i'm in, there's an instant response. When passing cars in traffic it's so easy and takes such little effort. I wish I would have put them in a long time ago. Some say 4.10s might be "too much" for driving in traffic. I completely disagree. Yeah, the throttle is touchier, but it's not like it's uncontrollable. My gas mileage got a little worse, but it's only like 0.5 miles per gallon less than before, so about 7 miles less per tank, which isn't bad at all. With the 4.10s, the CAI, the 93 octane tune, and my exhaust.... My V6 is a completely different car than when I bought it. I've driven V8s that were less responsive and not nearly as fun...... So, it all goes to show you..... Engine size does matter, but there are lots of other things you can do to get MUCH more out of your car than those two added cylinders.

Good deal dave! I know what you mean about the 'response' at any gear/speed. So much more fun to drive!
Enjoy!!!

Man I feel like getting gears again! I had gotten 4.10 gears with the posi trac for $200 on Ebay used(bad idea). They were advertised to be compatible with vehicles with a 7.5" rear, including Mustangs. After the install, the were grinding and whine horribly. I was embarrassed to drive my car around because it was noisy(in a bad way). I felt a lot better having the stock gears finally out on again. I decided not to go with gears ever again, because of my foolishness XD I again wanted to start tuning my car to have better performance, so I started looking into a torque converter. I started thinking about the gears again, because it seemed like the cheaper option to go with including the fact that the labor was $180 with the oils. After reading previous posts about gears, I new I HAD to get them gears again, this time NEW ones I'm just hesitant to take them back to the same shop, because I saw that they had the tune at "firm shiftness" instead of the 93 octane tune. I have the Diablo Sport Tuner by the way, and those are some of the options. Is it possible to ask "tuningss" at the Diablo Forum for a custom tune and speedometer adjustment? Do I need to buy the computer harness they sell for the Diablo, or does he send you the adjustments himself(after paying of course)? I've heard some of the MFers have had custom tunes done by him (tuningss), so just want to see you alls' feedback on all this.
Thanks and sorry for the long post

Where and how did you get ford 4.10 gears for the 7.5? did they oreder them for a different model like a ranger or bronco II? I ask cause while at the dealer ship I was told they don't offer any other gear ratio for the 7.5 in the mustang then the stock 3.31.
Thanks
Jeff

lol, perfect guess. Yeah, some guy was selling them on Ebay as Bronco, Ranger and Mustang. I asked him if it would fit my car to double check and he said yeah. WRONG! Now I'm looking for Ford Racing Gears or Ford part 4.10 gears for my 08 Mustang V6. Do you you or anyone else know where I might be able to find them? I tried many sites, and closest I got was RPMOUTLET, but wasn't sure about that. All I can see is Motives 4.10 gears, but have heard a lot of goods and bads about them, so not sure. Any feedback is much appreciated.
Thanks

Honestly you are probably just better off getting an 8.8 takeoff if your going with 4.10s. I get some discounts from NTO and I think I can get one for about $950 delivered.

- The websites say that the gears are for Mustangs up to 2009. Is there a difference between the 2009 and 2010?

The website is a year behind with their updates
- They have versions for 8.8" differentials and 7.5" differentials. Which is on the 2010?
V6 7.5 GT 8.8
- Do I need to buy anything extra besides the gears?
Yes, a shim kit, pinion crush sleeve and the needed tools for the install
- What is a typical install cost on these?
Nothing is typical like the quality of work you get, kinda hit and miss...
I HAVE checked the forum (searched) and found a lot of info, but no real answers to the above questions.

Thanks for any info!
Good luck.
Get a take-off 8.8 with the gears you desire
already installed and be miles ahead cost and
dependability wise.

Unless you just like listening to whinning gears...

stangmods.com sells FRPP gears for the 7.5, but they only show 3.73 gears on their site. Send them an email and ask if you can get FRPP 4.10's - they are really helpful and friendly.

Re-building a 7.5 is not cheap to do, buying the parts + having a shop install them IS the same price as getting an 8.8 takeoff.

My suggestion is that if your are sticking 7.5 - rebuild it all - change the gears, add a t-lok or other lsd - AND replace all bearings (pinion and carrier) and the necessary crush sleeve/seals.
