Your stand alone CAI might be providing 3-4 RWHP over stock. Add a tune to that and you'll be at roughly 20 RWHP over stock. The tune won't add anything more from your exhaust and I even doubt you're seeing more than 1 or 2 RWHP, if anything, from the exhaust.

To put it bluntly, a CAI & tune is definately worth it. It's the biggest bang-for-the-buck short of going FI on these engines.

sorry its taken so long to get back, i had some serious computer problems. anyway, you guys answered all of my questions and i really appreciate it. i think if i can squeeze another 15-20 hp ill be set. the car is already fun to drive, for me at least, and that much more hp will be the icing on the cake. i think i said it before but this whole tuning thing is new to me lol. it makes sense and is way more efficient but growing up while working on my dads trucks and cars was so much easier lol. like i said thanks alot, if i got anything else ill definitely come here.

You'll find people on the forum that have done most anything you can imagine to an S197. Definately tap the knowledge base here before pulling the trigger on anything.

lol nice, ill remember that. i think i will be going with am and bama, its sounds like a great partnership cause if i can get a bama tune with the customer service and support of am ill be set. on another note, i searched a little bit but couldnt really find a definite answer, when i get tunes is it the same tune for 93, 89, 87 octane that has been remapped or something or is it different for each grade? i want to get a 93 race tune, then a 87 economical tune.

You can get which ever type of tune you want, usually you get to choose three. ex. 87 performance, 87 torque, 89 perf, 89 tor, 91 perf, 91 tor, 93 perf, 93 tor, or 93 race.

An 87 perf vs 87 torque tune is going to be a little different in where (rpms) the tune targets its gains. Torque tune targets more gains in the lower rpms, 3000 and down. Performance tune targets more gains in the higher rpms, 3000 and up.

An 87 perf vs 91 perf tune is going to be the same, the only difference is to accomidate the fuel octane level.

Based on what joshpony stated, choose your main tune based on your daily driving style and the other tunes for "play". I run my 89 tune for 99% of my driving as I like it's lower RPM response. When I want to play and run hard, I load my 93 tune for it's upper RPM range response.

A tune will be the most feelable "mod" you make. It will bring the car to life, especially if getting a 93 octane tune.

(Thanks, JCON)
