tune questions
Can't say I would recommend them though.
...seemed like a good idea at the time.

gottcha nuke, ive heard that too i just needed you guys to confirm it for me lol. i think i will do something like an 89 economy tune and then a high torque 93 and a race 93. that sounds good i think lol. of course im going to talk to the guys from bama and am and see what they say but you guys gave me a much clearer view of how this system works and im more confident in what i want now.
thanks again guys, ill definitely get back with all of you and let you know how it works out.

IMO, I wouldn't bother with an economy tune of any octane. I've heard where people preferred the stock tune over their economy tune. Besides, you can probably get an equivalent amount of economy simply by keeping your foot out of the other custom tunes.
WOOOHOO! Just ordered my C&L racer & SCT tuner from AM this afternoon! Can't wait for it to get here!!
Question: Will Bama call me to ask which tunes I want programmed? I completed the online request with the mods, etc but I never noticed a place to specify which ones I wanted. No big deal I suppose as they have free tunes and I can just get them to email me what I want. Just curious...

i did JCON, a little off point but i got it lol.
Nuke, i thought that i could get like 4-5 mpg better with an economy tune, but your sayin that i can get something like that driving conservatively with a 93 race or torque tune?

Conservative driving, depending on how UNconservative you drove the car, can provide at least a 1-2 MPG increase in economy. But anyone that has been driving for years and tracking fuel mileage knows that mileage can differ significantly due to many factors, not just driving style. I've had the luxury of very good testing conditions by driving the same 410 mile trip almost every 2 weeks for 2 years. I drove the same roads, used gas from the same stations and maintained a near-identical driving style and my fuel mileage would vary by as much if not more than 4 MPG and I keep my car and tire pressure up to snuff. My guess was environmental conditions and quality of the fuel.
My suggestion is to get your performance tunes (they have no impact on fuel mileage other than MAYBE a .5 - 1 MPG drop, if that providing you're not getting into it more often) and to find your cars "sweet spot". I find my Stang gets best gas mileage between 45 and 65 MPH. After that, it begins to drop off exponentially as speed increases.
