Default misfire problem

I have a 2006 4.0 mustang and the other day i noticed that when i turn the key on my check engine light turns on and stays on then flashes, and if i sit in park for a while i can feel the car shake like it is a small misfire... I think it is either the fuel injectors or the spark plug wires, but could it be the cat converts? Can somebody give me their input on it... I dont want to put money into fixing the problem until I can figure out what it is... Thanks

I don't know if a fuel filter would throw a light( it wont) but I'd suggest changing that if you haven't. Take it to your local autoparts store and have them use their scan tool to tell you what the code is.

If its flashing turn it off. Flashing generally means cam or massive mechanical issue.

Do you have any codes yet? may be a bad wire.

My gfs mustang had a wire drop on to the headers and it melted through it causing a misfire. but the engine light never flashed.

Pull the plugs and see if one is fouled up. If they all look good, the next questionable item would be the wire set

What's the idle rpm at? Wasn't there a tsb regarding low idle? Sounds like you've got a canned tune so might need to re flash or flashed by the dealer if stock to address the tsb.
