Hello everyone,

I just bought an 06 stang, manual, and am ready to start the fun adventuer of the upgrade parade.

Eventually I would like a supercharger of some sort, but that will be down the road at some point.

So my question is, what first? I have a grand to spend at this time. Also I do not what to have to back track with parts, so each upgrade needs to build on the last.

This car is mostly going to be my weekend warrior car:0 but still needs to be fun to drive on the occasional 1000 mile trip.

Not looking for a ++150mhp'er,( been there done that in the gsxr world but a really quick stop light to stop light'er would be great. Not many lights in this town

Haven't real done any car wrenching or hotrod since my vw day's, way back in the day, when 2180's were the king LOL and everyone crusied Van Nuys and Whitter BLVD

So let the great advice begin.

Thanks in advance.

Well you can take some different routes here, if performance is what you are looking for, if you have future plans of putting a charger in then maybe an upgrade to an 8.8" rear end with some 3.73 gears would be the best bang for your buck, then a tuner with a cai would be a good upgrade, then to compliment the tune would to make a switch to true duals.

If you're looking to go FI and you will only have $1000 here, $500 there, then my suggestion is to put that $1000 you have now into an interest bearing account and keep adding to it until you have enough for the blower. Other wise, you'll be spending each chunk of change on little, 4-6 RWHP gains at a time.

Otherwise:
  1. CAI & tune
  2. cams/heads
  3. rear/gears
  4. UDP's
  5. aluminum DS
  6. headers w/OR-X or H w/duals
  7. weight loss

+1, CAI Tune first.

Demolet Tuneable Inductions Intake $120.00
SCT X3 $60.00
GTM Take Off Mufflers $0
DeMolet Tunes $30.00
Black Billet Grill w/ Driving Lights $125.00
Shorty Headers $120.00
GT pipes 2.5" pipes $60.00
GT front brake kit w/ pads $75.00
Rear Sway Bar w/links $60.00
Polly Bushings $25.00

Shop around and you will find a good deal. I have a lot of take off parts with little to no miles on them. My total so far on this car is: $675. I still need to buy an X-pipe with the hangers and clamps but I will still be under $1k. I'm a heavy auto vert so the same upgrades on your 400lbs lighter car should net you a great 0-60 for our cars. I would also look in to some gearing, like 3.73's with a T-lok. They cost quite a bit but are worth it. $900 for GT 8.8 3.73 t-lok rear end or about $500 to upgrade your 7.5" to those gears and t-lok.

i know that normally we tell guys to do CAI and a tune, but since this guy eventually wants to go FI and doesnt want to backtrack on parts, shouldnt we tell him not to get a CAI since he has to replace it anyways most likely?
seems like he should just do the 8.8 and UDP, sway bars, exhaust then save up for the s/c or t/c

I was thinking that but he said in the future, he wants power now so why not? He can turn around and sell it and get half of his money back.

yea good point
so OP if you want quite a bit of power now get the CAI tune combo, but be aware that you will have to get rid of the CAI when it comes time for FI
having the tuner tho will be invaluable

Ok, so if I understand you, if I but the cai and tuner I would just need to remove the cai, but I could keep the tuner, right? Also if i wanted to do the dual GT exhaust system from NTO, will I still be able to use this later, with headers. Or should I get a complete dual system at one time.
Thanks

Also, I forgot to ask, If I am going FI later down the road which tuner should I get.
Thanks
