Need help with Gears
I am looking into getting gears and a t-lok (keeping the 7.5) I am looking into 3.73's and was interested in hearing from those who either have them (with manual trans) or have done lots of research and can explain to me the pros and cons of this setup for a daily driver mixed city/hwy driving with an occasional long distance highway trip. Thanks in advance for your help! James

Before you pull the trigger on the Tlok and gears, get a complete price on what it is going to cost you for the parts and installation.
I never should have tried to build up the 7.5 on my car. It was cheaper to buy the 8.8 take off and swap the rear end. Which I did after breaking the 7.5.

It's a close call. People debate this all the time. With how close the prices are, and since you want an X-Charger in the future, I suggest you get an 8.8. It has the gears already in it and it's ready to bolt up.
Call and ask what the best price they can give you is.

The install price is lunch/dinner and my friend's favorite beer so that is not an issue! I can wait till I have the money to purchase the right stuff, and obviously I only want to do this once, the right way as money doesn't grow on trees. Hence the inquiry! Still want to hear pros/cons of the gear selection! Obviously the 8.8 can handle whatever is thrown at it and if I bought from NTO its a matter of unbolting the 7.5 and installing the 8.8 all set! I had considered this option but didn't think my V6 would ever put out enough hp/tq to be worried but if the x-charger is going to put out enough to break the 7.5 I'll just get the 8.8

I just got my 3.73 8.8 rear end insalled and dude you will love it, It is such a big improvement over the stock and on the highway its really not bad. Its actually good because it keeps me from speeding now. I usually cruise at like 60-65 where I am around 2200-2300 rpms. But even on the highway its great because you just put your foot down a little whne you need to pass and she goes with out down shifting. Id just buy the new rear from newtakeoff, that way if you do supercharge in the future your rear end is ready for it. Get the 3.73s thoughh you'll love em
