'09 accelerating on its own?
I've never had any problems like this before, but just after starting up my car and heading down the road today, I realized my car was still accelerating with my foot off the pedal and no cruise control on.
It freaked the hell out of me when it got up to about 65 in the 45 (which was just after I noticed it and thought the cc must've been on) , and showed no signs of stopping there. After hitting the brake, decel, reset, and off buttons, i counteracted with the brakes as much as they would, but the car wouldn't stop without adding the emergency brake, putting the car into neutral, then pulling the keys.
Right now I'm waiting on a tow truck, and wondering wth caused it.
Anyone heard of/had such a problem before?

Hahaha. Thanks, man! It scared the crap out of me, cause it didn't show any plans of slowing down, and I was about a half mile from hitting a major intersection O_o
Well, you may have one strike in my book for choosing the wrong, but you get a pass for choosing the right ride!

Slow at first, but it felt like WOT when I was counteracting with the brakes, although there's no way I was gonna let off and check to see. I did eventually shift it into neutral when I realized there was no other way of stopping it, hence the "putting the car into neutral, then pulling the keys" part.

Mine has a habit of doing 65 in a 45 but my foots usually connected to the pedal.
Sounds like a stuck throttle-body plate. You may need to get some TB cleaner and remove it and clean it really well. How many miles do you have on it?

I'd give jcon's suggestion a shot first. There are no mechanical connections between the accelerator pedal and the TB so that would be my first thing to try, also.

Haha, well, right now it's at the dealership and the techs are taking a look at it, so I should have some idea of what's wrong with it in the next day or so.
Oh, and I've driven just over 20,000 at this point to answer your question, jcon.

Let us know the outcome! I am curious to know what is causing the issue. My stang idles high when coming to a stop in neutral. I cleaned the Throttle body and the Mass air sensor and it still does it on occasion.
