Transmission Swap

Transmission Swap
I have a 2005 4.0L v6 coupe and I am very attached to this car. Only cost me $10,000 with just 13,000 miles on her. Like most enthusiasts I cannot stand the fact that she is a standard. I could not pass up the deal, especially for the mileage and overall condition, not to mention the legend lime paint job giving her that classic look.
I have been interested in a trasmission swap from an automatic to a manual but cannot find that much information on the topic. Is it plausible? If so, what transmission would be recommended and parts i.e. drive train, pedal, etc. Thanks!

A standard transmission is a manual.
It would be a lot of pain to do, and if I was to do it, I'd use a 6 spd and get the full benefit of that swap.

Transmission swaps are possible and plenty have done it. Use the search and you will probably find a good amount of threads about it. If you are going from an auto to a manual, which is what it sounds like, don't waste money on the stock manual transmission. Get a good aftermarket one.

All the threads I have seen over this topic have been fairly uninformative mainly just a lot of members telling the person to trade their car in. I hope you can find the info you're looking for. I agree with everyone else don't get a T-5 they suck. Go for a GT transmission or a 6 speed. I'm sure it would be a blast.

I have a GT500 Tremec TR6060 6-Speed in my 2006 4.0 V6 PP. I made my own parts to do the swap. The TR6060 is a pretty expensive transmission. More guys have actually gone with the GT Tremec TR3650 5-Speed which can be found for far less coin. If you are interested in doing either of these swaps feel free to PM me. Neither is especially cheap to do but well worth it in the opinions of those that have done it.

Here is a link to a writeup on the basic swap from and auto to a manual with all the information you need for that part. Going to a TR3650 or TR6060 will not be much different other then the custom parts needed:
