Default Engine swap

Hey guys I have a chance to buy a 90 cobra fully rebuilt, I was thinking of doing an engine swap is it possible? How easy? Would a mechanic be required for anythIng? Is it a direct swap? Has anyone done this?

You don't have to put the same thread in 2 different sections...

Sure, it bolts right up!
Get a bunch of duct tape, just in case.

Use the forum search and you will see how much time and money it is to just upgrade the S197 V6 to the S197 V8

What mods would need to be done? Obviously the motor mounts and would have to mod the drive shaft but what else?

OP, search around the forum, there's a ton of threads on this topic. You're going to need motor mounts, a near rear end, new comp, and transmission. If you want to do it right, you'll get a new front suspension to hold the weight of the heavier motor and GT brakes to stop those ponies. As for the 90 cobra rebuilt motor, I have no idea if you'll have any clearance issues... You need to do A LOT of research.

There's plenty of room in the S197 engine bay for that motor. However motor mounts and just about everything else are gonna have to be a custom job. Good Luck!
