2006 Mustang V6 Automatic Transmission Slip
I bought an 2006 V6 automatic with 78,000 miles and it is like brand new inside and out. It was well taken care of from what I can tell. Periodically the transmission has started slipping when I accelerate from 1st to 2nd gear after taking a corner at a signal light. The slipping is occurring during normal driving. When I do a hard acceleration in a straight line the transmission shifts fine.
I do not think the transmission has ever been flushed. The dealer gave provided me a third party unlimited powertrain warranty with a $100 deductible. I am trying to figure out what to do, take and pay for a transmission flush at $190 at a Ford Dealer or take it to a transmission place to be checked and probably pay a diagnostic fee of $80, then pay them for a flush if that is all it says it needs. Could it be low on fluid, wondering how the fluid could be low since it is a sealed transmission?
Any suggestions?
Thanks Greg

That sounds like a low fluid situation. If it hasn't been serviced in that many miles then it is probably time. That price is about normal for the transmission flush and fill - and probably a new filter at that time as well. Because it requires a "special tool" and such I haven't found anyone but the dealer who can do the flush and fill for me.
There is a vent on the transmission and in that many miles you can vent some out periodically even though it is a "sealed" transmission it will vent to atmosphere.
