Cool Auto Trans question

OK, so I was showing my kid how to change the oil in a car (he's 11) and he accidently loosened the transmission fluid bolt. well needless to say, I was under there with him and just didn't notice he was doing it but caught it, but not before he drained about a 3/4 of a quart or maybe a little more. my question is, where the heck do I refill that fluid at because there is no transmission dip stick in the engine compartment....is this a dealer only thing?

No, you can refill it.

You should be able to google the directions.

Basically, you get a bottle of transmission fluid and a manual oil pump.

Stick a hose adapter into the center portion of the drain plug.

Add slightly more than what drained out.

Then let the excess drain back out until you get a very slow stream.

The pan and plug are designed to set your oil level properly that way.

Make sure the car is level when you do it. Pretty hard to do without a lift

Also, the trans drain plug is a plug inside a plug. Remove the inner one to full it, remove the larger/outer one will drain it all out.
The plug is designed do that the fluid level will be correct and even with the top of the inner-plug, when the car is running on level ground.
But yeah, getting fluid in from the bottom requires a pump to pump it up into the trans. You can use one of the cheapy mechanical fluid pumps at local auto stores.
