I have 2005 auto V6 that shifts hard when putting in to reverse. I can shift to reverse and it takes a second to engage and then it kicks hard than starts to move, took it to a local ford dealer and had them do a tranny check and they said they found nothing wrong I have 87,000 miles on. Don't know what to do
don't want to cause damage to the tranny its been doing this for about 3 weeks
thanks.
It idles at about 700-1000 rpm running at about 1,500rpm
I will get the Tranny serviced asap
thanks for the help.
i think what he was getting at is how fast is the idle when you shift it into rev, should be at the 7-800 idle. if i dont let mine settle down to idle it does it sometimes. and also if i`m parked face up on a hill, sometimes it does it. ( where i park at work) sometimes i`ll put it in n and let it roll back then drop it in gear. for sure, service the trans. the fluid at 50k was trashed. i had my 2nd trans flush at 85k, next service for me will be a filter.
also helps to alway set the e brake before you let off the brake pedal, and then apply the brake pedal before you release the e brake. take some stress off the system. i use my e brake every time i part no matter if its flat or not.
