C&L intake without tune

C&L intake without tune
Okay so I found a good deal on a C&L intake and was thinking about purchasing it. Now I also have a lead on a BBK throttlebody I can pretty much pickup for free... anyway I was wondering what issues i'll see installing the C&L intake on the stock tune? I have a local shop that is a ford specific tuning shop "Performance Evolution" in Smyrna Delaware.

Well the intake alone might not cause too much trouble, other than you running a little lean, and maybe spitting a code down the line. But couple that with a TB and you are probably going to have trouble. MANY S197 owners who add aftermarket (specifically BBK) throttlebodies end up with rough/wandering idle issues.
I just don't understand why so many owners are content with altering the mechanical portions of their engine, however they won't touch a tuner? An aftermarket tune is what allows the engine to utilize the "mechanical" modifications and the parameters they change.

The C&L without a tune will run lean and throw a code. It requires a tune and your car won't run right on the stock tune.
And there is a reason that the BBK throttle body is "almost free". Current owner is trying to dump on you

The current owner is my cousin who bought it in a package deal and just wasn't going to put it on his car. He picked up a almost new BBK intake/TB combo dirt cheap.
The C&L intake I found on a local forum that I could pick up for a heck of a price. I was just going to see if the local shop could set up the throttlebody and the intake with the dyno tune.

From what I have read, an after market TB is useful when a vehicle is force induced (supercharged, turbo, etc.). On a lightly modded car, it will not do much, other than possibly causing issues and throwing codes. Do a quick search on BBK TB and read up.

get custom tune via email tuner!!! you will also need a programmer to upload the tune. car will not run with stock tune + C&L. my car lasted about 20 seconds before it bogged out.
FYI, i was reverting back to stock for smog test and forgot to swap the CAI.

The nice thing about delaware is their emissions testing isn't too in depth. I am planning on getting a tune, just didn't know if I could get away with running it without a tuner or not. Thank you for the help with the questions!
The throttlebody was just a idea that was bouncing in the back of my head since I could practically get it for free.
