Default Seriously? Steam and coolant

So I literally filled out the forms, got in the car, filled my new car with some gas and drove 7 miles or so to go and get some groceries, as I pulled into the parking lot, I noticed steam coming up out of the hood and some coolant coming out. I let it cool (and me kind of) and opened the hood. When I opened the expansion tank, it was bone dry.

The whole drive, nothing gave me a cause for concern, temperature was fine, but as I pulled in it did this.

No gunge in the expansion tank, nothing creamy in the oil cap.

I called the dealer, and was pretty pissed off, he said I can take it back and they will fix it, but what should I do with this? Does this sound like a split hose or something? I didn't sense anything overheating, pissed off. I'm waiting for a tow truck and getting a bit of my groceries now.

Garr.

I'm going to guess at this myself after reading someone else's topic, THERMOSTAT HOUSING.

I'd let the dealership look into it. One would hope that, before they sold it to you, they changed the fluids. It's not uncommon to get a bubble in the radiator after a flush and refill if they don't run it long enough and recheck the level. Even if it something else like a bad thermostat, water pump or clogged radiator, unlike a private sale, a dealership has to make it right.

Yeah, they have it now. So disappointed, but you're right, I'm glad it's a) a dealer and b) didn't happen 100 miles away going up to Vermont

Most likely the thermostat housing split. Did you notice any sprayed coolant, and was it back near the intake manifold? The split usually happens on the back side seam and sprays back toward the manifold.

It was too dark for me to really see very well, but seemed to be dripping out around the drivers side of the bottom of the engine. The dealer will have it sorted though.

Well the dealer has been pretty good about this whole thing. He's updated me to let me know the mechanic has got the parts it needs and is replacing them now, I just replied to ask what they are to appease our guesses

I would not accept that vehicle. Period.
I would insist on a new vehicle properly dealer prepped.
If not, its time to call Ford direct and get them on the stealership's *****...

Seriously...

No telling what damage occurred during that short drive...
You should not have to live with that.
