driveshaft removal

Default driveshaft removal

Hi, im in the process of removing my transmission and cant seem to get the driveshaft out. I removed 4 bolts from the transmission and 4 bolts from the the differential and cant seem to find any more, but its not budging at all.

any advice or am I missing something?

You should see a rubber or plastic boot on the drive shaft someplace, this is where the drive shaft should slide together to allow it to be removed. You may need to use a heavy mallet or dead blow hammer to persuade the ends to come loose so it will slide together enough to give clearance.

Thanks! I was hitting pretty hard with the deadblow hammer and getting nowhere, wanted to make sure I wasnt missing something. ended up using my scissor jack to get enough pressure to pry it loose.

now to figure out what & how to disconnect the clutch hydraulic line and the rest will be cake

clutch line has a clip on the black plastic piece on the transmission, you can use a small or thin blade screw driver to pry it back, then line comes right off. Don't lose the clip though, you'll need it.

I had a hard time getting mine off after removing the bolts due to the rust, I beat on it hard with a standard hammer and it came off.
