Default Help Setting up Tune?

Hello ! Just bought my tuner (first time ever) and im using a 89 Performance tune from BAMA..
what should i use for this criteria? (it asks when im loading tune)... If possible it would be awesome if i could get a rougher/meaner sound (i know not a v8 sound)..

Speed Limiter - Setting this at 110/115.. no reason to go faster..
Idle Drive
Idle Neutral
Shift Points
Shift Firmness
Rev Limiter
Cooling Fans
Spark 0 - 2000, Spark 2000 - 4000, Spark 4000 - 8000
WOT FUEL
Axle Ratio

Note: Bama SF4 Tuner

My tip with tuning... you paid someone else to do it for you, why are you trying to do it yourself again?
With settings that you know, like axle ratio, the computer knows that as well so if you just load the tune it should run great. If it doesn't show the right speed because of new tires, or you changed the gears, then you will need to worry about changing things.
Hope that helps

Leave the tune you bought alone. You're very likely going to harm your engine. Besides, the bulk of the parameters that affect the bulk of the performance are not user-accesible anyway.

Just another point to ponder - a "rougher" sounding V6 equals a V6 with a problem. A V6, a V10, V12 even are all balanced engines. The unique "rough" sound from a V8 starts with the fact that the engine is inherently imbalanced.

That's why a balanced engine (Like a V6) will hum while an 8 will have a rhythmic cough.

If you're wanting a throatier sound - that's all on the exhaust to give you that. If you want more of a throaty whoosh sound when you're WOT, you're going to want to look into a CAI with a nice open filter to suck in as much air as possible - which is the reason for the throaty whoosh sound when you crack open the throttle on some cars.

Generally speaking - a tune is there to modify how the car operates in various ranges and to effect performance or fuel economy - it will not however, change the sound of the car.

If you somehow manage to make a V6 sound rougher, you've either put a competition cam into it, killed a spark plug or two, jacked up your timing or you ruined your tune.

Just my .02

Cheers,
Scott

Nothing you have access to will make it sound 'meaner'. My advice is go with a different exhaust setup. Exhaust will have the biggest impact on your sound. If you want to get heavily into modifying the sound (and performance) different heads and cams will also go a long way.

The items that are available to you in the tuner are simply optional and modify the settings the tuner (American Muscle/Bama in this case) have already set.
