Dude, look. The 4.0 is a truck engine, meant for the Explorer and Ranger. It's a boat anchor; what you get is what you get. You're going to waste a lot of money trying to pick up a handful of horsepower.

Would probably get more for your buck with a supercharger kit, or a CAI/Tuner combo if the car is all stock.

A couple of my friends had cams custom made, sounded good, but for the power bump wasn't really cost effective. They did better with a turbo and supercharger as far as seeking power.

I just want a cam for better sound. I'm still deciding between supercharger or turbo but I will and up putting one of those some time.

From what I've seen the blower is highly effective at adding power, as well as being simple to install. Short of jerking the whole thing and dropping in a V8 that seems to be the way to go if you are looking for more muscle.

cams are expensive and difficult to install on these motors.

I was thinking of swapping it once the engine blew because I hear its a lot of work and you would also need to change the transmission and the rear end. thanks for the tip on the blower though know of any good places I might be able to find one it would be really helpful haven't had the best luck finding anything for the 4.0's

My favorite forced induction on the 4.0 is the Xcharger Xtreme - won't get you the biggest dyno sheet, but power comes on right away.

Turbo will give you the most power and quickest times at the drag strip, followed by the centrifugal blowers like a Vortech or Procharger.
