Default Fuse causing problems need help

The demand lighting fuse which is slot 25 in the passenger fuse box is causing the car to not start at all and it won’t even crank. When I take out the fuse the car is completely fine. I know that it might control the trunk light because when the problem started the trunk light had melted and the whole connection was just a mess. First of all I want to know what demand lighting does besides control the trunk light and if it’s important. I also want to know any solutions to this problem so I can put in a fuse and be able to start the car. I figured I could just put in the fuse while the car is running to see what would happen but I obviously don’t want to risk ruining anything else over a minor problem I just want to get it fixed before I sell the car. Anyone know what could be the problem?
