there's a faint smell of gasoline when i start my car...am i running rich? could it be linked to my DIY spark plug job?

How long has it been going on... I mean hell I smell gasoline ocassionally on startups.

If this continues to happen, get it checked out, but otherwise, it happens to everyone on a rar occassion.

well since it is winter it sits a lot would that have anything to do with it? spark plugs wouldnt cause this right? I did the spark plug install a week and a half ago. Then two days ago on startup it would be faint then go away and now it does it while idiling. I had to slightly rotate the fuel injectors to get at the plugs could this have caused it? I moved them back to where they were before.

Its been said that when you get a bigger MAF that your car will run richer than normal and when you sit at an idle its kinda like having a cammed out carb car you have to clean it out everyonce in a while but your car would be fine at idle its fine its just cause the MAF

the maf has been on there since late august

that same problem happened to me so i put it on a lift and found a exhaust leak..that could be your problem, because the way you describe it ...i had the same smellsgoin on lol

yea well mine has a catback and the guy checked it for leaks so im not sure if it would be that
