4.6L 2v Engine Rebuild
Hey everybody,
I really want to rebuild my engine this summer, but I need help. I found a forged rotating assembly I like (a stock bore stroker) and I plan on buying a new iron block from Livernois (they are $245 plus shipping) because I assume it would be cheaper to buy a new machined block than to have my old one machined. I drive a 98 GT with the P.I. head swap, so I plan on reusing the heads from it. What size pistons should I look at to achieve a 8.5:1 to 9.0:1 compression ratio? I'm a poor college kid that only works during the summer, so I can only afford to take baby steps with the modifications. But, I want to turbo one day.
Could anybody give me a list of all the little things I'm going to need but would probably forget? Like gaskets and timing stuff...
Also, any engine building hints and tips would be more than welcomed. How do you re-time these engines?
I'd love to be able to afford to have a shop do all this work. I am getting quotes from shops around the Ft. Wayne, Ind area... but its not looking promising. I've only recieved one quote, and it was for $2600, and they don't seem to want to work with me. 2600 bucks definately breaks my bank... heck, it even kicks me while I'm down and knocks up my girlfriend. I can't afford these occurences.
Again, any help at all would be most appreciated.
Thank you all.
