you could get damage from a 75 shot if it backfired and even if you didnt hear it back fire that doesnt mean it didnt cause silet backfire is the worst. Thats the one that catches the rod on its upstroke and then bam shoves it back down bending your rod a little or somtimes alot but either way its not good.

But he said the noise is at the valve cover. Also, he said it's a tick not a knock.
