Default Forged Question

I currently drive a 2000 mustang gt. I have considered supercharging or turbo charging my current motor, but I have heard my motors limit is 450hp. So instead of spending 2-3k on forging the the 2v, I am thinking about doing a motor swap. I was just wondering does the 4.6 4v mach 1 or cobra motor come with forged internals already?

The crank is forged in the Cobra/Mach 4v, but that's as far as it goes. You will still be in the same boat.

So pretty much, if I want to go above 450 I will need to drop big $$ no matter what. lol maybe I will just put a blower on the good ole 2v after all. Thanks dan

O and just as a side note, would you go centri or twin screw?

Pretty much.

It's usually not crank failures, most people when they get near the 500rwhp mark will have a piston.....or 4 flying through the oil pan.

that's really up to you. if you want good 1/4 times, go with the centri. the twin screw is nice if you want to have fun on the streets without beating your car all the time because the twin screw reaches max boost at about 2000 rpm. but in the long run, centri's will give you better 1/4's

so centri's are cheaper and give you better 1/4 mile times. I am guessing since the boost kicks in later you tend to get better gas mileage than a twin screw as well. So besides having peak boost earlier, why get a twin screw?

it'd cost a lot more than 2-3k to forge your engine btw.

Mach's Crank isnt always forged. In the automatics the crank is a cast crank, not forged. In manuals, however it is forged.

Yes that is correct. The auto Mach's have a cast crank......go figure
