Anybody else notice that although the car ran well a 13.42 is a long way from a 12.99. The faster you go, the harder it is to improve. Dropping 200# isn't gonna do it.

This is true on a high high horsepower car, but not a mildly modded one.

Not only do you put down less RWHP, you also are heavyer, have more rotating wieght, and the 5spd is more agressivly geared compared to the auto.

Umm ok i've seen them beat 5spds left and right on the track. Same cars. Not sure where you got your information from. I agree that 5spds are more fun to drive but...any car with serious hp at the track run autos.

A stock GT does not have serious horsepower.

READ what I said instead of floating over it and then posting.

A STOCK GT with a auto, with ONLY stall/shift kit will NOT beat a STOCK GT with a 5spd and a good driver.

If you want to build a good 10/9 second car then stick with an automatic. Not the stock automatic, but a automatic of some sort.

If you want to build anything above a 11.50 or so, go with a stick. You have better gearing, ablity to powershift, and less weight/rotating mass

If you are out with your stock auto GT beating on stock 5spds, you are running into people that cannot drive.

hes got that right ^^^ but the gears are so much better in a manny tran that a auto, unbelievable that you think 2 cars are the EXACT same at the track, i doubbttttt that! but its crazy, listen to the auto guys....

I guess if you want to beileve that a auto will be faster with the same mods as a manual in a lighty modded car, you can. It isn't true, but you can beileve it all you want.

truly think about it. 3% more power in a 5sp.....ok so thats gonna be 9-18hp..k now when doing mods that give you that much hp, how much time do you gain? k is that thought out fellas?

NOW TO THE REAL HARD PART, YOU GOTTA THINK HERE BUDDIES

how fast do you shift in your 5 spd, thru 3 gears....k so almost a second on each shift, thats almost 2-3 seconds spent shifting, an auto spends much less.

AUTO WILL ALWAYS WIN IN A STRAIGHT LINE WHEN ITS ONLY HUMAN VS COMPUTER, IN CASES WHERE A COMPUTER LEARNED A TRACK, AND LEARNED THE SHIFTS, THE COMPUTER WITH ITS AUTO BEAT THE MANUAL DRIVER, AND WILL EVERY TIME. sorry you guys arent as good as todays technology, even with 3% more hp. good day

It cost more money but an Auto with a TC and a tune to firm up the shifts will beat manuals. I'm not saying this because I have an Auto. I would trade mine for a manual anyday they are so much more fun to drive. But its almost impossible to shift as fast or as good as an auto can. Aftermarket TC's multiply the torque so they actually get more torque to the ground.
