I cannot beileve you guys are acutally arguing this with me. Seriously. Have you EVER seen a magazine 1/4 mile a auto GT? Wonder why that is.
Seriously I cannot beileve you actualy think a car that is anywhere near stock is gonna be faster with a auto in the GT. Comeon guys, this is common knowledge.
And on the power question, using the standard rules, my car would be making 258 RHWP. I am currently putting down 280 RWHP with the 5 speed. Thats almost the exact power differnce my camshafts made!
A stock 5spd will put down somewhere around 225 RWHP. Once again using the standard rule (and from the dynos I have seen/heard about) a auto GT will put down in the 210 RWHP range. If you don't think 15 RWHP is significant, why did you buy exhaust?
Put it another way. Show me a video, any video, of a bone stock GT with just a stall and shift kit running a 14.0, on the stock tires. Cause I have seen a few stock GT vids breaking into the 13s.
Honestly. Hell, I could have put any transmission in I wanted to when I did the TKO swap. With the over 3k I dropped into my clutch/trans/bellhousing/driveshaft I could have easily done a AOD swap. Wonder why I didn't.....

I'm not talking about what Motor Trend says. Motor Trend doesn't test their Auto's with aftermarket Torque Converters and Diablo Tunes. I can't believe your getting so bent out of shape. Just deal with the facts. I'd love to drive a manual they're more fun, but autos can go faster with just two mods, everything else being the same.

[sm=jawdrop.gif] Wow, stick to ur auto buddy. if u know what ur doing you can shift just as fast as a stock auto. When I shift Im in the next gear before revs have dropped, and I still get a little pull when I drop the clutch. The shortshifter helped, but the stock stick is capable of some fast shifts if u know what ur doing. Powershifting puts a whole nother spin on it all together. If u drove a stick (well at least) ud agree with 20004.6gt. You cant make up for that 5+% loss through the automatic with some ever so slightly quicker shifts

if you had a manual, you would know WHAT we are talking about....why do you think muscle cars that go for sale if they have mannys they are WAY more $$$$ ? 1+1=2 goodjob!!!
also, if you think torque converter and a "tuner" is gonna make a night and day diff...then go ahead and spend over $1,000 to make it a lil quicker, when manuals can take that $1,000 and put it towards HORSEPOWER, then we will still whoop you a**a snuff is a snuff, autos=slow

Plain and simple, you put down more power, have less rotating weight, and have a more agressivly geared transmission with a 5speed than you do a manual.
I have no idea where you guys are getting this information, but it is dead wrong. I'm not gonna contiue to beat a dead horse, so think whatever ya want. But if you do a OUNCE of research or just hit the track you will see I am right.

ok so this turned into auto VS manual really quickly.
anyway this guy has the thing listed what mods he did and what his times were after he did them.
the first one is removed air silencer......wel this has been proven to actually subtract 3-5 hp.
don't ask me to site my sources i can't remember where i saw it but i did see it somewhere.
