First off, if you have a GT with 245/45-17's already, you have the largest recommended tire for your rim. You will have to buy larger width rims to accommodate any larger tire sizes. Just look at any tire spec chart available at the Tire Rack website, www.tirerack.com, and you will see the recommended rim widths for all up sized tires. You'll need 9" to 10" width rims to properly mount larger than 245/45's on you car. Sure, you can mount larger tires on your stock rims but it basically is not a safe move. Check the charts and be sure to also check the rev list so you can get a combination that will not totally screw up your speedometer readings. You want a rev as close to the stock 245/45-17's as possible to retain good speedo readings. Possibly 255/40-17's or 275/35-18's may do the trick. Too large and you may also have to install wheel spacers to avoid rubbing on your suspension. I am sure alot of guys will chime in on this thread that already have the larger rubber. They'll have some good suggestions for you I am sure.

Your stock tire size is 225/55ZR16. Which means your rim is a 16 by 7 I do believe.... You might be able fit a 245 on them.... Personally, unless you really need new tires now, I'd just save up and get new rims and tires.... It would really make your car look a lot better and you could get bigger tires... Just a thought...

Yeah, I plan on getting some Cobra R rims and figured I'd buy a package deal.

True, but lets be honest, you can't go wrong with a cobra style rim. But I do agree deep dish bullits and fr500's look dead sexy.
