I have 245/50/16 on my stock rims. it sucks in the snow. the wider the tire the worse they are in the snow!

so what about at 17 x 10.5 inch rim, because i been thinkin about gettin some for my back rims, whats the widest you can go on that?

You can squeeze 275/40/17s on 17x8 Cobras with just an extra 12mm bulge on each side of the wheel over recommended width. Contact patch gains 1.2"s in width. Running 40+ PSI dials out any potential slip angle disadvantage by going with the fatty. 245/45s in front with 275/40s in back or within .86% diameter of each other. Staggering may add a touch more understeer, but that amount and the ability to dial it out from somewhere else in the suspension is worth the extra traction advantage, IMHO.
