LSWHAT?? Sorry I had to.
Great read, I agree...regardless of the power the LS1 engine, it is not as efficient and I have always hated the design and styling of chevy except for the corvette. But even the corvette has ****ty interior for how expensive of a car it is. I would love to see ford design a 7.0Liter Modular V8 and put it in a special edition Mustang and see how much power they get out of it. I cant believe the new Z06 is fuking 7.0L...that's HUGE! lol

RE: Why Ford engines not GM
i don't think it's that the ls1 is less efficient.....i think it's that it's less resilient......i'd pick a 4.6 or a 5.0 against an lt1 or ls1 or any gm motor(except the northstar) for durability in stock form......i had a 5.0 that i beat the ***** off of it was stock and had 165,000 miles on it and all i had to do to it(tother than clutch replacement and plugs and things like that) was replace a water pump at about 155,000.....i'd still be driving it today if i hadn't crashed it.

RE: Why Ford engines not GM
I'm not about sour grapes, give the LS1 and LS6 their due, they are extremely powerful/fast engines. The problem I have with GM is for a company with it's resources (engineering/development) why they still let the accountants decide on product. They cut corners at every turn, and it shows up as production band-aids and low build quality. Their engines DO NOT last,or are as durable, as Ford products. From 1967 till the early 80's they still had soft camshafts in their small V-8's, and they leaked like sieves and smoked. It was hit or miss whether you got one with good tolerances that would last. When my kid's were little I bought a '92 Pontiac Transport, 3800 V-6. I wanted a FWD van and the Dodge was the biggest POS on the market. I bought that van and my wife and I saw it literally disintegrate in front of us, shocks/ struts, the ashtray mounts broke and the whole huge unit fell out of the dash, sliding door problems/latches freezing, seatbelts, oil leaks and the final straw, the automatic blowing 2500 miles out of warranty. I turned it in at 38000 miles on a mint 5.0 grand marquis, with 60K miles which I picked up for 6K (the dealer gave us 4K BACK on the trade) and we literally beat the living S**T out of that car and it just went and went.
I am not enamored of Chrysler and GM products, in fleet use, they especially fell apart. As a truck "test" I bought the company some 460 equipped superduty cab chassis's in 1991 My brother-in-law says half of them are still on the road today, the dead ones were wrecked or traded. His Super-duty 460 was replaced last year and only had it's transmission replaced once in that time, routinely carrying a 15Klb load. I am encouraged with the latest things I hear about Cadillac, I hope finally that the improvements trickle down
GM's product line and they finally get their heads out of their A**ses, build quality product for a reasonable price and get in the black.

Ah yes grasshoppa, but have you driven a 5.4, or towed with an Expedition? I towed cars with the old 5.4 year 2000 at 80-85 mph without slowing for hills, passing other vehicles with trailers like they are standing still. Those engines are torque masters, and not that bad on fuel (for gasoline) to boot.
