if I remeber right you should just go with 275/35/18 and 315/30/18 should be very close!

ORIGINAL: IWinULose

Is there a site where you can go type in your tire size and it will give you tire sizes that have the same overall height?
For instance, say I have 17x9s with 275/40-17s and 17x10.5s with 315/35-17s, and I wanna go to 18x9s and 18x10s, but i wanna keep the same overall height, how do I figure out what tire size i need?

Yeah, that seems real close. I just don't think a 315 on an 18inch wheel on an 04 that's lowered will work. Prolly run into some rubbing somewhere. Plus, I just looked at prices for 315/30-18s and even 295/35-18s...and wow...i might just keep my 17s..

when i read his thread, i took it as him asking if he can have an 18" rim on the backs and 17" on the front. did i read that wrong? because i thought i heard that the vette's are like that with the bigger rim on the back

i think the 18x10 in back with 17x8 or 9 with 245's in front (or smaller) would look pretty damn mean

as for figureing out the overall diameter of the wheel with the tire on it iwin... its not very difficult at all

I AM NOT 100 PERCENT CERTAIN THIS IS CORRECT.. IF NOT PLEASE CORRECT ME

all you have to do is take the tire size,, for example 275/40/17

to get the total diameter of the tire which is the measurement you wanted to stay close to a stock rim,, multiply 275 by .4 since youre trying to find "40" % of 275
110

then, since a tire is going to have 2 side walls to account for while its standing up, you double that
220

then, divide this number, which is in millimeters, by 24.5 (number of mm in an inch)
8.98

then add the rim height,, 17 to this number

25.98 is the overall diameter of the tire,,, and since stock 245/45/17 is VREY VERY close to this number, a 275/40/17 can be used w/o adjusting the speedometer..

hope i helped,, good luck

i think 18x9's in the front and 18x10's in the back would look nice only drawback of course would be the price...

Well as far as rim goes....the difference in a 17x9,17x10.5 setup compared to a 18x9,18x10 is only 40 or 50 bucks.... tires is what kill you. the jump is a couple hundred dollars.

EDIT: 72Mach - Excellent info. thanks.

Actually there is another drawback.... Bigger wheels usually means less profile. And as we all know, less profile is good for handling, but not as good for launching...

I can confirm 72MachOne99GT's little thing with the math to determine tire height. My 295/35-18's in the rear are only about 1/4" total taller than my factory 245/45-17's... my speedometer is about 2 MPH slow at around 55.

good...

now i have officially proven that i have learned something on this site...

now, if only i could do it faster i'd save myself some time

AND, in addition to that, if i could find heights, and then if there were someway to plug it into a equation taht would tell you how far off your speedometer is gonna be..

AND, more importantly, how much tire height changes makes an affect on gearing,,

if i go to 15" tires, i'll most likely be going a tad taller,, BUT i dont want to lose the day to day 'pep' of the 4.10's []
