I disagree. I think the 385-390hp is accurate. I mean I could be wrong but I really disagree.

RE: Is the 4.6 260hp underrated?
Ford got caught with its pants down over the '99 Cobra, and I think it started underrating its V-8 engines a bit from that point on. For example, the 2001 Mustangs got a .4 compression increase, but rated horsepower stayed the same. 'Stock '03-'04 Cobras always seem to dyno between 365-375rwhp everytime they get tested in the mags, indicating they probably make closer to 410-420hp stock. Then there's the '05 GT...I could go on and on...

ok the mach 1 is basically a cobra engine minus the s/c. so it will push bout 320. the mach 1 just kinda keeps the insurance down and it wasn't build by svt which if you wanna keep the warantee then you need to go to an svt specialist. but the 1 means nothing, the mach 1 is trying to go back retro, remember the 1971 mach 1??? ok then.

That could be the reason why some 2000+GT owner's have trapped 100+ but who knows....

You could say that about alot of things. some 99 Gt came with different blocks. Some could be faster than others. I dont really know anything about compression ratios, but Im not buying it. Anyone got a link? Id like to read up on this. There are alot of differences between the 99Gt to the 04, but its miniscule.
How did they change the compression ratio?

My thinking on the Bullitt, I believe they have a better flowing CAT setup. The only way I could get sound out of my GT to exceed my wife's Bullitt was by changing my cat setup to Hi-flow. Another giveaway is the low end torque a Bullitt has over a stock GT. They pull earlier, and just rip to redline after 3K. I had Bullitt mufflers on my GT, very little difference in noise or performance, yet when my wife would drive home and I was in the yard, I could pick up the sound of her car from 1/2 mile out.
