99 GT Engine swapped into 69 Fastback body???
hey all...due to a recent accident my 99 supercharged roush was totalled due to frame damage. fortunately my whole drivetrain is still running well. i am thinking about keeping the totalled car and swapping the drivetrain into a fastback body, and rebuild from there...good idea?? how hard do you guys think the swap would be? thanks

If nothing is damaged in the engine/drivetrain/harness, it should be fairly easy. Just take your time with it and it should turn out fine. Sorry to hear about the roush. The 69 should be a fun car to drive. Good luck with it.

Would be a neat swap, everything is available also to put a T-45 or Tremec in those cars. I plan on putting a Tremec 5 speed behind the Cleveland in my '70 Mach I, good luck.

DO NOT put a t-45 in it. the T-45 is ****ing junk.
but putting everything you've got in the roush in there would be really cool......i think it would also be really cool to modify the interior to go into the fastback.

ya...unfortunately i wouldnt have enough money to get a fastback body in the shape i would want it in, as well as a new tranny, so the t-45 is gonna hafta work, at least at first. also, you mentioned something about the shock towers...what wouldn't be able to clear?? i have a feeling i would have a little more room to work with under the fastback hood, but if it is going to be too much custom work i would rather just buy a high milage 99-00 gt and swap the drivetrain into one of those. let me know what you guys think...thanks for the help

you can put a t45 in just make sure its the tremec t45 not the BW. oh BTW im in the process of swapping in a complete bullitt drivetrain in from an 01 into a 68 fastback. first thing your gonna need is a tubular k member for the 4.6 you can use a stock one but the tubular is a lot easier to work with. it is a lot easier to work with because it is lighter and allows more room in the engine compartment. your also going to need to fabricate LT headers or fabricate an x pipe to work with the stock manifolds because there is some firewall clearance issues. give me your email and ill send you pics and hints that i find out along the way

I'm in the process of putting a 4.6 in my '65 ... you should check out RRS http://www.rrs-online.com/shocktowerproducts.php
They make a sweet notching kit that gives you 5.5" extra on each side. The only catch is that you have to use their coil-over strut front suspension, but it's pretty sweet even if you don't need it for the clearance.
I've also noticed some trash-talking about the T45 (primarily from nathan smith) and I'm wondering what the beef is ... since I just bought a motor and tranny (T45) out of a '98 GT ... was this a mistake? My understanding was that the T45 was very similar internally to the T56, which would make it pretty solid. Any advice would be appriciated!
