Default Mach 1 shaker system

Has anyone installed a "shaker" hood system on a normal GT? I saw a kit from mustangtuning for a little under $800. What exactly comes with this kit? Do I need to order a new "mach 1 hood" to go with the shaker system? Does the thing really "shake"? If anybody has any pics of a GT with the shaker system it would be helpful. Also if anybody has information on performance improvements I'd appreciate it.

The Mach 1 hood is a little different than the GT hood. I actually like the Mach 1 hood better. Does the aftermarket shaker system work with the GT and the original Mach 1 hood?

No you use your current hood...the engine doesnt sit as high so the scoop wont be high enough to clear the hole. I'm hoping this is a purely cosmetic mod and you don't have any huge expectations for this...cuz there is very little if any diff between a CAI and this shaker hood system.

To supercharge it there are kits out there that hook the supercharger to the intake.

I have a friend who switched his stock GT hood to the Mach 1 hood and shaker system. It looks SO SICK. I wish I could make it work with my P51 intake just to see the shaker "SHAKE" with my cams

I just got my car back from the paint shop last week and so I have no pics of it yet but...it looks awesome!

Let me tell you a few things though.

I DID NOT use the shaker system from CDC. I think it is a poor implementation. It tries to use your existing GT hood but falls way off the mark, in my opinion. It comes with this black plastic thing which sits on top of your hood, minus the scoop. I didn't like the look of it but it is only $800.00 so you get what you pay for.

I ended up getting the shaker system from www.karkraft.com for $579.00 instead. Of course, this system requires that you get hold of a Mach1 hood, and have it painted to match your car, which I did. For the hood, I went to www.fordgenuinepartsonline.com and ordered the Mach1 hood. It cost $427.00 plus shipping via truck, which, for me, was $120.00.
I also ordered the decal for the hood and both rocker panel decals. I forgot how much these are. I think it was $36.00 each side, and $120.00 for the hood decal. Then I spent another $500.00 at the body shop so they could paint the hood to match the rest of the car, and also I had the wing painted black and I also had the rear of the car painted black, between the two tail lights.

At this point, the body shop told me to wait a week or two before they put the hood decal on so, I am going to call them this week to make that appointment. Once the decals are on, I will take pics and post them.

So far, I absolutely LOVE how the car looks with the shaker on it and it's really cool to see the shaker shake when you go over bumps or gun the engine.

My car is a 2002 GT Vert. in laser red with the parchment top.

Good luck to you on whatever you decide!

Rob

I did install the CDC shaker system on my GT and it is pretty straight forward installation. They send templates and instruction with the kit so it is simple. I do agree however that it does not look as good as a the original Mach1 hood. Also the system became non functional after I installed the S/C. It's very complicated to hook up the air from the shaker to the S/C. But I still loke the looks of it.
