Default RE: Flowmaster Drone!!!

I ordered my Magnaflow Catback and Catted-X from www.hottexhaust.com

I used coupon code fordtruck8 and got a good discount.

Below (sorry for the cut and paste but I wanted to show it) is the cost of the Magnaflow Catback to your door - $385.39 (not a typo, try it yourself).

I also talked to them regarding the Magnapacks vs. Regular Mufflers and they claim it's the same performance-wise, it's just that the magnapacks sound more agressive. As soon as I said I wanted to be able to use the cell phone in the car, they quickly suggested the full size mufflers (straight thru also).

If you dont want the drone... get straigtthrough mufflers like loudmouth I or II's. There is nothing for it to resonate back and drone off of like the crapmasters.

like the crapmasters.
LOL! I have to add that one to the list... I love how many people just bash on Flows. My brother wants them on his car when he gets it. He will turn 17 next year, and Im trying to talk him out of putting flows on his stang.

You can pretty much: (Insert Retarded Word Here) Masters
and it will some up the flowmasters.

Crapmasters are another one to add to the list, lol.

Thanks for all the information, I'm going to keep doing more research. Anyone ever hear the Flowmaster Force II system (3 chamber)?

The dreaded "drone" comes from the style of muffler. The chambered mufflers produce the drone while most other styles do not (reads: get straight through).

As long as it is not a chambered muffler, you should not experience the drone everyone refers to...

However, some people like the sound of a chambered muffler and don't mind the drone it makes at 2200-2600 RPM (mine do anyway but I'm not even sure what brand the weld-ons are). I relate it to the buffeting effect you sometimes get when the windows are rolled down just right in a car at high speeds - it gives me a naseous-headache feeling after listening to it for most of my commute. Besides, I like to use my cell phone from time-to-time. So, in my car, the chambered mufflers are out and good luck to those who like them.

My H pipe w/flowmaster mufflers don't drone as much as a friends X pipe - you're goin to get it really with anything.. I dont really find my sound annoying at all and i dealt with it driving from Tampa to Atlanta.. Actually kept me awake ... haha.

I like my flowmasters. It drones at like 1900-2200 rpm for me, stock H pipe. The drone isn't that bad, I kinda like it because the whole car rumbles at that time... only problem is like at WOT it's much too quiet. I'm putting in an O/R H pipe in a few weeks and maybe that will spice it up a bit. I want to upgrade the cat-back but money is hard to come by...

I think flowmasters sound great for cruising, nice rumble without being too loud.

If I could have it my way I'd have LM exhaust on my car, however.

Flowmasters go great on old muscle cars, like my buddy's 350 V8 powered 1972 nova.... flowmaster 50s or something (the black ones), sounds nice, quiet on cruise loud as heck on WOT
