Cobras have IRS and a t-56, machs have a solid rear end and a t-3560 tranny, machs also have a higher compression ratio so if you want to put on a blower it will only handel a few PSI. the cobra responds good to mods, i remeber nanaki telling me he saw a cobra get 25 RWHP fro a filter, NOT A CAI, filter!

But then you are at the engines limitations, where it is much cheaper to simply swap out the IRS on the Cobra, have an engine that can handle 700+ HP and a transmission that takes a moron to break. Unlike the Mach1 that has the same crappy 3650 tranny.

Bottom line is, the Cobra is a better car to start with. The only potential upgrade will be the rear end and the swap would be less than $3,000.

In the Mach, you will reach the engines limitations at about 450-500hp and the tranny will be a weaklink also.

Whatever your budget is dude, buy the best you can and work from there.

Personally, I don't have the free time, patience or shops around me to properly build up a car without doing it all myself and having to spend ridiculous amounts of money and traveling to do it.

I love the Mach 1...the look, the feel, all of it. I'd go with the Mach simply because it's a Mach.

ya my buddy has one and the fugger scares the sh*t out of me, its got the throw you back in the seat the way my 6er does at 25, i still havent ridden in a cobra.[&o]

i have a mach and i say cobra. I like the looks of my car better but cobras are amazingly fast. Either way you will be happy. A mach with a 8psi blower will be a beast but its no cobra. But if i had enough to buy a cobra and only wanted about 450rwhp then id get the mach and put a blower on it then enjoy paying cheaper insureance. Just look at what you want to do in the future

I'd probably go with an 03/04 Cobra then do all the engine and chassis mods I have done to my '02 GT, and then get rid of that IRS for a solid rear axle! With what everyone has said about the forgred internals and compression I am not goint to repeat it all. The Cobra is the overall best buy unless you are swayed towards the Mach for other reasons (i.e. retro looking interior & etc).

if you want to keep it stock go with the mach 1 for sure but if you are sirous about speed and think about upgrading def go with the 03-04 cobra. they are built better then the mach 1 and has a engine and a tranny that can take some sirous power.

Mach 1 :-p There are fewer (albeit not that much) and hell, its a Mach1... Though if all you want is insane speed... go cobra... Me personally, Yea, I'm dumping a total of about $10,000 but I'll be at 800+ rwhp (new forged internals @ 9.2:1 c/r(dss pro-x series), T4 turbonetics TT, and a t-56 swap :-p
