Default Headers? Complete exhaust. Help!

My friend needs help selecting a complete exhaust system for his 01 GT. Hes looking for the best possible sound in terms of loudness and deep rumble. The Gt needs to sound like a real muscle car. I was thinking shorty BBK headers into a BBK x pipe, no cats, and finally dual flowmaster super 40 sierese muffles out to some 3.5 inch slash cut tips. How will this set up sound and are these reputable brands. If you guy have any other combinations for best sound, please list what you have. Thanks.

I've got almost exactly what you describe, the only difference is my X-pipe has high flow cats. The car has a DEEEEEEP low end growl, (turns heads as soon as I take off) and at high end howls like a Nascar FORD, I love it.

i'd stay away from flowmaster. they have an annoying drone to them inside the car. as for the X vs. H pipe, X will give you better flow, but if he wants sound, go with the H pipe. the X gets a little raspy at higher rpm's. long tube headers for the win!

BBK long tubes would be a good idea, they're the cheapest of the top of the line long tubes out there.

I never heard the muscle car sound from a 4.6. To me the muscle car sound is a cammed big block.

You ARE NOT gonna get that sounds from a 4.6. I LOVE the way the 4.6 sounds with full exhaust, but its not gonna sound like a 440 charger.

PS if i was gonna do it all over again, id go LT, X, Bassani/Borla.

Heh, SLP has one of the best sounding, CHEAPEST catbacks on the market already.

If you want the LOUDEST possible sound with a nice rumble, I would suggest LT's, o/r H and LM1's.
** Remember, this is one of the loudest setups possible. Do your research!!
