4.6 stroked to?
I know this topic has probably popped up a lot, but how much can I stroke the 4.6L SOHC to? I was thinking (in the future) about rebuilding the engine; and if I'm going to replace the bottom end of the engine with forged parts, I might as well stroke it while I'm in there. How much bigger can the displacement go safely?

the 302 stroker is popular, there are a few companies who make them. VT makes a 324. but i think a nice aluminum 5.4 block would make you happier.... with that loooong 4.1 inch stroke. they are torque monsters!!

wait, could i use the same factory block to get 302 or 324 cubic inches from switching the cylinder heads?

oh its just increasing the length of how long the path of the cylinder is right? aka changing the crankshaft, rods, etc?

kind of.
displacement is measured by the amount of cylinder volume between TDC and BDC of the cylinder. add em all up and that's your c.i.d. the stroke is the distance the rod/piston travels between TDC and BDC. bore is the diameter of the cylinder. VT makes a 304 cid big bore and a 324 bog bore block. the 324 requires an aluminum block, therefore your cast iron GT block will not suffice. also, if you plan to make more than 600 crank hp, i'd go with an aluminum block and forged steel cobra crank anyways. if you want the 324 stroker, get a low compression buildup. the hp will be a bit low, but you'll still make great torque and whenever you are ready you can just bolt the blower on.
