a salvaged title doesn't mean **** you get a better deal on it because of all the stories, but you can title it just fine. If you want to do the cobra engine thing there is one on ebay right now for 9,000.

I would think a stroked 302 with a kb s/c would walk a cobra but that's just me...

I would do it the opposite way if I had the money and resousources. I would make a cobra look like a GT. Now for god's sake don't flame me this is just a concept I kick around sometimes. I think it'd be pretty funny to rape older vettes (as in not the high 11's 7 liter thats out now) and have them think they were owned by a s/c gt lol. Just a nifty idea I had.

If you have the money build up the SOHC 4.6 to those specs.

Making your car into somethingi it's not is totally gay. You don't have a cobra so why would you get a bumper that says cobra. Use that $ and energy into something worthwhile like engine upgrades, suspension, etc. [:-]

how so? a salvage/rebuilt title means that the car was totalled. which means that it's worth about half of what it would be worth with a normal title. which means that for a 2000 gt with 55K he could probably get about 10K......he'd be unbelievably lucky to get more than 6K for his no matter how nice it is.

the reason that this matters is that it might be worth doing the cobra conversion if he'd get almost nothing for his gt.

Dude why don't you read the posts above, I didn't put that cobra stuff on there, the previous owners did. I don't give a crap what you think, I think it would be sweet to convert my GT into a cobra and I'm entitled to my own opinion. I was only asking if it's worth swapping for a cobra engine, but now I know it will cost 10 G's to do that so I think it would be better to mod my engine as is.

Oh also, I'm pretty sure the 99/01 cobras didn't have the cobra emblem at the front on the grill. That's just an aftermarket emblem. Also, I think getting a mach1 engine would be pretty sweet too since it's the 4V and it has much more potential than the 2V. The 99/01 Cobra engine is naturally aspired DOHC and pretty much just like the newer mach1's right? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I say just buy a mach1 or maurader engine and keep your emblems if you want. If your car is fast enough...who will tell you different? i.e. code

yeah the 99/01 cobra and 03/04 mach are basicaly the same engine. The 96-98 4v's have the teksid blocks which are a stronger block then the newer 4v's, but the heads dont flow as well. If I were going to drop 10k just for an engine I would buy a forged block or the block out of the 96-98 and build it up with the compression you wanted, forged rods/pistons, and a vortech blower kit. The 6800 rpm would me a centri blower just plain out lethal IMO.... and if you cammed it/stroked it to get an even higher redline... wow. all im gonna say about that.
