Default 4.6 litre displacement question...

Is the 4.6 litre considered a 289 Cubic Inch motor? I think 5.0 is 302 so I am using my not so good math skills and I come to think that 4.6 would be considered 289 Cubic inches. Is this true? Thanks!

General rule of thumb: 1.0 liter = 61.03 cubic inches.

^^ ya i belive the 302 is acutally a 305. but because chevys 305 is so crappy, we want to stick with 302 because the 5.0 is a great motor. and the 4.6 is a 281 not a 289 and my modular 5.4 is a 330 but 5.4 stroker kits from 5.0s actually are 331s.

Thanks for the info. everyone! I don't usually talk about displacement in litres since I don't talk to many guys w/ cars newer than a '76(besides the Buick Grand Nationals, although I do love to learn as much as I can about different vehicles, no matter the nameplate as long as it's american!), but I have learned enough about litres that I can get a close estimate on what C.I. a motor is by the litre. It was a close guess, only off by 8 cubes on the 4.6! Also, while we are on the subject matter, can anyone tell me what kind of HP/torque numbers an '04 4.6 is putting out stock? Thanks a lot!

i think the 302 is a real 302, just 302 is not a 5.0, its a 4.9....

just "5.0" sells better
