Will not go into gear

I just picked my 04 gt 5 speed up from the dealership after 9 days in the service department. I had new bearings put in the transmission because it was roaring like crazy with the car in neutral and the clutch pedal out. Now it will not go into 1st or 2nd gear without forcing it. The dealership says this is normal when all of the bearings are replaced but I think thats BS. I think they bent a shift rod or shift fork when assembling my trans. Any advice will be greatly appreciated before I go back to the dealership this afternoon. Thanks / Chris

Keep fighting with them, that's BS, it should go in like butter now.

Thanks Dan04COBRA for the advice. Hopefully I can get them to replace the syncros. I have heard 04 GTs have weak syncros. Have you heard of any recalls for this problem

I agree! Before I took it to the shop it shifted smooth as butter. Now it feels like it has something between the gears.

There isn't a recall for the synchronizer problem, it's labeled a TSB. They only do the work on cars that show symptoms of the problem. They HAVE to replace them under this TSB if you are having the shifting problems.

You can print out a copy of the TSB from here and go armed to the dealership with it.

I printed a copy of the TSBs to take to the dealership. I can't thank you enough for the information. I feel confident I will be able to get this problem solved without it getting UGLY.

I took my 04GT back to the dealership yesterday afternoon armed with the TSBs. I now have a rental car while they replace the shift pins. Since they screwed up from the beginning Ford is paying all charges but i'm without my GT(for the 10th day now) and driving a 06 mitsu lancer POS.
