Default Diablosport Tuner and Rich Conditions

I was idling outside the DMV waiting for a friend, and I smelled gas (windows were open). So I sniffed around the car (I imagine it looked silly as hell) and found the scent of unburned gas from the exhaust, more promenant after I rev the motor up. Correct me if I am wrong, but this sounds like a 'rich' condition. This only occured recently, after the diablo tune, and after I changed to 10w30 gtx synthetic oil. Any other ideas? I had a mech run a pressure check on the fuel lines, and they're fine... and its not leaking anywhere...

Is it a mail order tune or a custom dyno tune??

If its a mail order tune chances are it is acutally costing you power. I was losing close to 10 RWHP with my mail order diablo chip back when the car was at full boltons.

Have you got the car on a dyno to check the a/f ratio? I don't see the point of the handhelds unless you dyno tune the car with em, or at least check the A/F ratio.

If you changed the fuel there is every chance you went to far and got it rich. Hit a dyno and check it out.

i changed the idle to 854. I hadn't touched the fuel untill today, where I leaned it out 1% (or w/e the #1 is, % or what have you) on the hand held. I dont have the cash floating around righ tnow for a dyno. I used the "performance" tune that comes designed for the 99-04 mustangs

I wouldn't mess with the a/f ratio unless you can check it with a meter.

Are there any other ways to check a/f without a dynamometer?

Not cheaply

Dyno runs only cost between 35 and about 100 bucks for sevreal runs.
