I'm going to be getting a Mach 1 when I make enough money for the difference between my 03 GT and a Mach. I'm hoping to find one in good condition and pay like 3k on top (not trading it in to a dealer). You guys think that paying only 3K is insane or can I get one for that price. Keep in mind that my GT has 28K miles, and sits on chrome cobra r's with grill delete. Sweet looking car, but I'm looking to drive a manual and upgrading to the power, prestige, and looks of a Mach is more worthwhile to me.

Good luck with your buying/selling. The mystic cobras are sweeeet. I pondered the thought of looking at 96-98 cobras but I love the mach 1

I paid 17,000 for an '04 GT with 5,000 miles, nearly new, it's loaded. 18, is a stretch for a '00 rag. Now if you had a Focus.......
I went shopping for a Focus for my son, 2000 - 2001, Gawd these things have gone UP in value from a year and half ago. I picked up a 4 dr 5spd for son # 2 in nov, '04 for $4300. Now looking for son #3, every Focus I see is in the $6,000 -$7000 range. Forget Mustangs for a teen, I built a beautiful Laser Red v-6 stick GT clone for son # 2, he put it around a tree in one month, one rainy night is all it took. Gas Mileage is driving the prices, you need to push how good your gas mileage is as a sales tool, what I love best about mine is the performance and the 27 - 30 mpg I average on my commute. GREAT CARS!

I got my 2000 gt when I was 18, no problems. You won't get 18 out of your car, straight up. And an old cobra? Without mods man, it's just as fast if not slower than a 99+ gt. Don't waste your money as everyone else has said on a car that's 10 years old. It's pointless. I agree if you have the money try to get a used mach 1, or a 03-04 cobra. Cobra's are unbelievable. Where else can you get a gently used car for 25 grand that's gonna perform with a cobra? No where. 03-04 Cobra, 5,000 in performance parts and you're gonna be eatin, EATIN 03-04 Z06's. And you still are saving ATLEAST 5000 dollars in the price difference between a monster cobra, and a stock z06.

I got my 04 cobra with 2,000 miles on it for 27,000. I went into the dealership for a transfer of warranty form and i just thought i'd ask if they needed a SVT Focus and before he even loooked at it he said they'd give my 10,500(thats what I was asking for it and he let me take my rims off) so i said sure and it was a done deal. All i did was walk in there and ask and he give me 1500 more then trade in and I didn't buy a car from there.

I was thinking about selling my mustang. So I can get a cobra......yeah!! ohh I want it sooo bad but is it worth it. What should I do? Take out a loan and then private sell my stang?? What do you think I can sell my mustang for?? It’s a 2000 mustang gt convertible auto with 27,000 on it. It was a Florida car and now it’s an Ohio car. It never saw any Ohio snow. Do you think I can sell it for 18,000? The cobra that I am looking at is a 1996 MYSTIC cobra... soo nice. It has about 20k on it and its selling it for 17,000. What should I do guys??
dunno about 18 grand for your car...

I think my 02 GT, with 16,000 miles, would only sell for about 15-16 grand MAXIMUM. It's not a vert, but it's also two years younger with lower mileage.

As for that cobra, it seems pretty overpriced.. you should be able to get a '96 cobra for 10-13 grand..

For example:

1996 FORD MUSTANG COBRA white, 46K mi, ABS, leather int, pb, pdl, ps, tilt, air, 5 spd std, pw, alloys, air bags, 2 dr, p/seats, 8 cyl, alarm, cruise, CD, fully loaded, mint, Eibach lowering springs, Castor camber plates, 3.73 rear end gears, King Cobra clutch, Mac full exh, 17' Cobra R's, BBK underdrive pulleys, Pro 5.0 shifter, immaculately maintained & cared for, summer car only, never seen salt or sand, ready for summer fun, Must Sell, $12,000 OBO. (203) 258-7847 (4X). Shelton
1996 FORD MUSTANG COBRA MYSTIC T.M.U, Koni, Eibach, R Rims, New BFG Tires, New Cobra 98 Eng & Trans, Also Original Eng & Trans, Needs Refreshing, In Great Shape, Runs Fine, They're Getting Scarce!! $11,000. (973) 227-2914 9am-9pm (4X) . New Jersey

http://www.bargainnews.com

Check that out.. it's New England / NY / NJ vehicles, but it's pretty cheap. They have some '97 cobras for about the same price as those '96s...

well you can get what you wanna get, its your money, im just giving my 2 cents. i think that losing 10 years over a 4 year old car is kinda a waste. i almost did the same thing but i would rather just save for an 03 04 cobra which is guaranteed to most likely be the best car that ford ever built.
ISNT THAT THE TRUTH!!!!!
I can see your point about trading for an older car, but the cobra is just sooo much better of a performance platform than the 2v.
No. It's not the truth. The Ford GT takes the cake.

5,000 in mods to eat a stock Z06? A 2.91 pulley & exhaust will kill a stock Z for 600 bucks, maybe less if you shop.
