port and polish worth it?
Getting vt stge 1s in and someone suggested pp the stock heads. is it worth it? also have accufab 75 tb/pl coming if it makes a difference. How much and how long does it take and is it worth it hp wise?

RE: port and polish worth it?
You are looking at a very expensive job if you want to p&p your heads. From the way it sounds, you have never done any serious engine work, and in order to have someone take your heads off, disassemble the valvetrain, and port and polish the heads, reassemble the vavletrain, and put the heads back on , you are looking at some serious $$$. A couple grand by the time it is all done. To answer your question, yes it is a very good idea to p&p your heads when you get new cams, but if you can't do it yourself, or find someone to do it on the side for cheap, it is not worth the money spent for the return you get. Think about it this way, by the time you buy the cams, get the heads p&p and reinstalled, you are looking at probably over $3000.
Heads P&P: $1300-$1400 (check foxlakemustangs.com)
Cams: $600 for both
Labor: $1000 + (easily)
Easily over $3000 total. Brand new supercharger kit with 2 core intecooler from ProCharger: $3700 (fairly easy to install)
HP Gain from heads and cam: 40-50 (thats puching it)
HP Gain from Supercharger: 100+
My suggestion, don't get the heads P&P, or if you want to, save an extra $700, get the supercharger and double your horsepower.

RE: port and polish worth it?
It all depends on what you want, if you can afford a supercharger do it. If not, headwork and cams is a good alternative and you also have a somewhat different new age mustang. Then slap on a 100 shot and you've got yourself a pretty fast car.
