Default Installing some steeper gears need some help on the install...

Ok ive decided to my gear change my self. Ive got a pretty good idea on how to do it and i also orded the install kit. I would like to know from people that have done this before, what special tools and/or things i need to look out for or make sure i do when doing the gear removal and install. Thanks for the help.

-John.

P.s. If it matters i have a 98 cobra with a spool, 33 spline axles and currently have 4.10's in there right now.

man its going to be pain in the *** i never did it myself but i watched....you have to remove rear tires, rear brake calipers, housing, pull axles out, take a sledge hammer and knock the pinion gear out, after you get new ones in you have to use this little brush with this marker stuff to mark the gears then rotate the axles make sure your not healing or toeing the gears....should rub the marker off evenly not toward the tip or the back....have to shim the kit so that it doesnt

Without a lift it's going to be a long, painful process.

I would do this because if you f*** it up and have it towed to a shop they have to fix your Screw-up and will probley charge more for doing so, I would just take it there and let them do it and have it done the correct way first, plus if you screw it up and do not know it till you have it all back together and take the car for a ride then you might really F*** thing up. Save yourself time, money and headachs and have it done at a shop.

Well the car has a spool, 33 splines and 410's and the best i could get with 28 x 15 x 10.5 is a 7.9xx in the 1/8. Im going to keep it all motor for now and instead of switching to a 26" tire ( wich i dont want to do bc of smaller wriknle wall) im going to put in some 4.56's. I ordered a 2 hr dvd of how to install ring and pinion. I also bought the install kit so im gonna give it a go. Tools arent a problem, i just wanna takle this bastard and prove my self that i can do it lol.
