dude this sucks
im seriously 99.9% done with this vortech blower bs. MD sent me the tune, and thats on the xcal so im ready to do that. BUT. I still cant get the fuel line connected to the fuel pump without leaking. I bought new orings, 2 sets of retaining clips, and went through bot boxes bending and folding each one to try and fit it right. Quick disconnect SUCKS. Is there some other way to connect it if I fail again tommorow? Im tempted to put the tank back in and have it towed to a shop so they can **** with it. Seriously it burnt me out. It leaked everytime no matter how I did the retaining ring. **** you quick disconnect, **** you.
lol man sorry to hear that you're having such a PITA time with that. Sometimes fluid leaks (coolant for me) can be the most agravating of all. good luck with it!
seriously man it should have take 1 minute to connect the line, and 15 to put the tank back in and half a second to crank that son bitch. i will never touch the gas tank again after this is done, seriously i quit. gasoline sucks, especially having it in my friggin face and all over my driveway.
yeah when i installed my focus pump, i almost disconnected the main line, but decided not to because I knew I would have problems with it. In the end it saved time to just manhandle the line while it was still attached.
When you get frustrated it's time to take stock in the situation and get up close. Slow down and THINK! First, using micrometers or dial caliper measure the male side of the fitting (the part that is grooved and contains the O rings from the SVT pump) and make sure the OD is the same as the stocker. If ok, go on to step 2, check both pieces of the coupler for burrs or nicks, the pump fitting could have been damaged in shipping. Finally, examine the the female portion of the coupler, was it banged, is it, still round? Closely examine the O rings, are they nicked or cut after assembly? If so, re-examine your parts, see if you can find the spot, it may be the locking spring in the female coupler got bent on disassembly, and is cutting the O ring on assembly. You have to take a scientific and organized approach to the problem, and eliminate possibilities as you go. Remember it worked before, what is different now, logically check each piece and you will find the answer. My guess is the coupler spring cutting the seal, but check EVERYTHING!
Good Luck,
John
