if your gonna drop in a engine, might as well get the 03 cobra motor in there since it already has forged internals.

It depends how much money you have and how much power you want.

You can make 400rwhp (91 octane) on the GT motor with just a blower. The Mach 1 is a GT short block with Cobra heads and no blower

If you're going to pay to have an engine swap, it wouldn't cost much more to go with a 03 Cobra motor, which has forged internals.

The Mach 1 short block is not nearly as strong as the Cobra. If you ever put a blower on the Mach 1, the bottom end won't be able to handle it.

I'm actually in the process of having my GT converted to a Cobra motor with a Whipple blower. I've gone around and around on what engine design to use for the past 2 years, and I can assure you the 4v heads on the Cobra (and Mach 1) are a BIG improvement over the 2v heads on the GT... I'm talking 100 rwhp better on a conservative tune.

I got a lot of my parts from:
http://www.fordcarpartsdepot.com/

They have used Cobra pull-out motors for under 6k. BTW if you convert to a Cobra motor, you'll also need a Cobra fuel tank/pump assy.

I hope this helps.

would it be cheaper to swap the heads and forge the internals or just do the full cobra motor swap?
