Default seatbelts locked

Well i just picked up a pair of seatbelts out of my buddys wrecked 04 mach 1,The problem i am having is that were the part that lets the slack out of the seat belt seem to be locked,I cant get the seat belt to pull out anymore the it already is.Im thinking maybe something triggered them to lock when the accident occured?

Yes its not twisted or anything it just wont pull out anymore then it already is,I called a local mustang shop (www.mustangmagic.com) and they said something that if the car was in a real bad accident the seatbelts will lock up for some saftey reason. It just dosent make scence to me if anyone could confrim this it would be apperciated...

Mike there is a type of gravity switch or the like inside them. So when the car either nose dives from the brakes or hit in a collision, it stops the slack from coming out. Have you tried holding them in diff position to see if they will release? Also, some won't work unless they're bolted in.

Pro,

I have bolted them in and still no go,I dont want to start ripping them open because it cleary says over the plastic "caution do not open", I dont no what i should do i wounder if i could swap the 04 straps onto my foxes belt roller thing, in order to make them work with the 01 seats.

Are they mounted in the same position as the old ones? Do you know what I mean by that?

If you mean, I took the stock seatbelt housing off and bolted the new one up to see if it would work then yea i did that and nothing,Also they fit fine so i deff know they would work in the car, It's just these dam seatbelt straps are stuck and wont move. They guy at mustangmagic a local stang shop around here told me once there in a major accident and get locked up there garbage... but it still dont make scence...[]

Not sure about the lock up thing so I can't comment. You said they were working though correct? So the new belts are bolted in in the same clock setting as they were in the 04. You see what I'm getting at? Is the mounting position identical between both cars?

The belt housings lined up fine to the car,The mounting positions are identical, The guy even sent me the mounting hardwear from the mach's.The straps didnt move when i got them so i figured,Let me bolt them in and they will work but still no go,When i said working correctly i ment they lined up fine and bolted in fine...
