Newbie question:

Is it hard to do a PI swap? I only started to work on cars like 2 years ago :P

steenracing.com I reccomend people there, this summer I will be buying their Stage 1 Headswap kit, with Comp Cams, and a couple bolt ons, they made 291RWHP, thats sick for a 4.6 2V Mustang engine. To give you an idea, you'll run low 13s with that kinda power if you can drive.

I was pricing everything for a p.i. swap last night. If you buy used heads, cams, valve cover, and intake manifold, and buy new gaskets, 99+ upper hose, bolts, and fluids, I figured from what i was seeing $600-$750 seems about right.

the P.I. Are well worth it too.

@ steenracing.com they have this

'96-'98 Non PI Cylinder Head Porting Package

Starts at $750

Street Port Package: Probably the best deal out there!!! No switching intakes and all the other stuff that goes along with the '99+ PI headswap. These heads are worth it!

Includes: '96-'98 NON PI heads, ported (core), '99+ Larger exhaust valves installed, Competition 3 angle valve job, Full port work on intake and exhaust, New OEM valve springs and seals.

Flow:
Intake: 190 cfm @ .550
Exhaust : 165 cfm @ .550

'01+ PI cams (adds 10hp) - Add $235.00
ModMax valves are available!
Race Port packages are available for these heads

Why not get that? Wouldn't that be the same if not better then getting PI heads?

check the CFMs on the PI ported and polished, I think they're higher, but the PI intake helps, and so do the cams so I mean I would rather go with the PI headswap stage 1

when choosing the heads, it all depends on the money.

performance wise npi<pi<ported npi<ported pi

just remember, that 750 only includes the heads, not any new gaskets and fluids and labor if you cant do it yourself. if you spend more, you can get the pi heads, or a little more for the ported pi heads. it all depends on what your goals are as to which heads to get, but im sure most memebers will agree, new heads period is a good option.

btw if you are getting new heads, you might as well wait to get new cams and valve springs so labor wont nearly be as much as if they were still on the car

I got in a discussion today with a friend about the following parts and hp ratings because as most of you know i'm probably going to get these parts pretty soon as the nice weather is slowly getting here. I want to know for sure how much power these will add IN REALITY so I can go back and say HA I was right or...sorry, you were right.

BBK CAI: Actual hp added?
BBK Shorty Headers: Actual hp added?
SLP LM1 Catback: Actual hp added?
Steed UDP: Actual hp added?

So what's that worth in the 1/4? lol I said it would take it from a 14.8 down to a 14.3. Am I close?
